CruiseControl is a framework for a continuous build process. It includes, but is not limited to, plugins for email notification, Ant, maven, and various source control tools. A web interface is provided to view the details of the current and previous builds.

Cruisecontrol 2.3.1 was released on the 10th of October 2005
Highlights
The new version features many fixes and some new features. Highlights include:
- Enhancements to the binary distribution to allow for specifying JMX port, execution directory, and instance name.
- Updates to the contrib/distributed, distributed build support.
- CruiseControl configuration file (config.xml) automatically reloaded if something internally changes.
- Documentation enhanced to included docs for the binary distribution and an overview page with a CruiseControl architecture diagram.
- Added ability to get/set the CruiseControl configuration file via JMX.
- Plugin pre-configuration now includes sub-element pre-configuration.
